John Lunman
MSW, RSW

Introduction

I am an eclectic practitioner using the May Method, ACT, CBT, and Narrative techniques. Primarily I am a good listener.

I have been in private practice for almost 30 years seeing individuals, couples and families in a variety of settings. I have particular therapy specializations in both trauma and couples work.

I have been married for 30 years and we have two adopted children, 23 and 15. My wife and I are pet lovers; we have a plethora of pets – 4 cats and a Labrador puppy.

Education and Experience

I completed my undergraduate in Social Work at York University then I graduated from the University of Toronto Social Work Program with a Master’s Degree. Prior to that, I also acquired an Honor’s Degree in Theatre (and worked as an actor, director and storyteller for the first part of my life)

I did Trauma Training through Hincks Dellcrest and have completed my Play Therapist Training. I have done grief counselling particularly dealing with child loss. Furthermore, I have run a private practice prior to joining Couples Counselling Toronto, which I ran for nearly 30 years. During that time, I spent many years counselling couples as couple therapy is a particular interest of mine.
