How Counselling Can Help You Connect More Deeply
Premarital counselling gives you time to talk about your relationship before marriage adds new responsibilities, routines, and expectations.
With the right support, you can learn how to understand each other more fully and build habits that help your relationship grow.
Couples like you choose premarital counselling to:
Strengthen emotional connection before marriage
Communicate with more honesty and less defensiveness
Manage conflict before it turns into resentment
Build greater trust, patience, and understanding
Increase relationship satisfaction
Reduce the risk of separation or divorce later
Talk through expectations around family, money, intimacy, and the future
Feel more confident about the commitment you’re making
What Can We Help You Work Through Before You Tie The Knot?
In your sessions, your counsellor may draw from the May Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) depending on what you need most.
Together, we’ll talk through the topics that shape your marriage, so you can enter this next chapter with more trust, honesty, and closeness.

What To Expect During Premarital Counselling
During your sessions, we may talk about how you communicate, how you handle conflict, what each of you expects from marriage, and the topics that feel hard to bring up on your own.
Your counsellor can help you strengthen your emotional connection, build healthier habits, and create shared language for money, intimacy, family, parenting, and long-term goals.
Couples counselling is our focus, and we use the May Method alongside years of experience to help you enter marriage with more confidence in each other and the life you’re building.

Everything You Should Know Before Booking

The number of sessions depends on your relationship, your goals, and the topics you want to work through before marriage.
Your counsellor can help you decide what feels right after learning more about your relationship.
-
If your partner is unsure, start by framing premarital counselling as a way to strengthen what’s already working, not as a sign that something is wrong.
You can also invite your partner to treat the first session as a low-pressure conversation about your future, your expectations, and the marriage you both want to build.
-
Yes, you can book your appointment online with any therapist currently accepting new clients.
We offer virtual sessions across Ontario, making it easier to fit premarital counselling into your schedule.

It’s helpful to start as early as possible, especially if you want time to talk through communication, family, finances, intimacy, and future plans before the wedding.
Starting sooner gives you more space to practise what you learn before married life begins.
