Definitions
For the purposes of these Terms:
Company, CCT, we, us, or our refers to Couples Counselling Toronto.
Website refers to Couples Counselling Toronto's website located at https://www.couplescounsellingtoronto.ca.
Terms or Terms of Use mean these Terms of Use, which form the entire agreement between you and the Company regarding your use of the Website.
You means the individual accessing or using the Website.
Content refers to text, images, graphics, logos, audio, video, documents, information, and other material available on the Website.
Services refers to the therapy and counselling services offered by CCT, which are governed by the Informed Consent Agreement rather than by these Terms.
No Therapist–Client Relationship
Accessing this Website, reading its Content, submitting a contact form, booking an initial consultation, or corresponding with us by email or telephone does not create a therapist–client relationship.
A therapeutic relationship is established only when you have been formally accepted as a client, have reviewed and signed our Informed Consent Agreement, and have been matched with a therapist. Until that point, no clinical duty of care exists.
Informational Purposes Only
The Content on this Website — including articles, FAQs, resources, and service descriptions — is provided for general informational and educational purposes only. It is not intended to be, and should not be relied upon as, a substitute for professional assessment, diagnosis, or treatment.
You should not disregard, avoid, or delay seeking professional advice because of something you have read on this Website. Mental health concerns are highly individual, and general information cannot account for your specific circumstances, history, or needs.
Reading Content on this Website does not constitute an assessment, and no diagnosis can be inferred from it.
While we make reasonable efforts to keep information accurate and current, we make no representations or warranties regarding the completeness, accuracy, reliability, or timeliness of any Content. Clinical understanding evolves, and older articles may not reflect current best practice.
Geographic Scope and Regulated Practice
Our therapists are registered to practise in the Province of Ontario, Canada. Services are generally available only to individuals who are physically located in Ontario at the time of each session.
If you are located outside Ontario, we may be unable to provide services to you regardless of your citizenship or residency, as the regulation of psychotherapy is jurisdiction-specific. Please contact us before booking if you are unsure whether you are eligible.
The Website is intended for a Canadian audience. We make no representation that the Content is appropriate or available for use in other jurisdictions.
Virtual Services
All services are delivered virtually, by video conference or telephone. Nothing on this Website should be understood as an offer of in-person or walk-in services, and we do not maintain a location where clients can attend without an appointment.
The risks, benefits, and technical considerations of virtual therapy — including potential technology failures, limits on responding to emergencies, and confidentiality considerations — are set out in the Informed Consent Agreement, which you must review before beginning services.
Booking and Payment
Session fees, cancellation requirements, and refund terms are set out in our Refund & Cancellation Policy and in the Informed Consent Agreement.
Booking a session through this Website constitutes a request for an appointment and does not guarantee acceptance as a client. We reserve the right to decline or discontinue services where we determine that our scope of practice or service model is not an appropriate fit for your needs, and to provide a referral where possible.
Fees displayed on the Website may change. The fees in effect are those confirmed to you at the time of booking.
Acceptable Use
You may use the Website only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:
Use the Website in any way that violates applicable federal, provincial, or local law
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Website, its servers, or any connected database
Introduce viruses, malware, or other harmful material
Copy, reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from Website Content except as permitted by law or with our prior written consent
Use the Website in any manner that could disable, overburden, damage, or impair its operation
Submit personal health information through unsecured channels such as public comment fields or social media
Impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity
Privacy and Personal Health Information
Your personal health information is handled in accordance with Ontario's Personal Health Information Protection Act, 2004 (PHIPA) and applicable federal privacy legislation. Our handling of information collected through this Website is described in our Privacy Policy.
Please do not include detailed clinical or sensitive personal information in website contact forms or unencrypted email. These channels are not secure and are not appropriate for the transmission of personal health information. If you need to share sensitive information, please wait until you can do so directly with your therapist through the secure channels we provide.
Intellectual Property
The Website and its entire contents, features, and functionality — including all information, text, displays, images, designs, graphics, logos, icons, and software — are the exclusive property of Couples Counselling Toronto or its licensors and are protected by Canadian and international intellectual property laws.
Except as expressly permitted in these Terms, nothing grants you any licence or right to use any trademark, logo, service mark, or copyrighted material displayed on the Website without our prior written permission.
You may view, download, and print Content for your own personal, non-commercial use, provided you do not remove any copyright or proprietary notices.
If you believe that any Content on the Website infringes your copyright, please contact us with a description of the work you claim has been infringed, its location on the Website, your contact information, and a statement that you have a good faith belief that the use is not authorized.
Testimonials and Outcomes
Any testimonials, reviews, or client experiences that may appear on the Website are shared with consent and reflect individual experiences only. They are not a guarantee, warranty, or prediction of outcome.
Therapy outcomes vary considerably depending on individual circumstances, the nature of the concerns presented, engagement with the process, and many factors outside the therapist's control. We make no promise or guarantee regarding the results of therapy.
Links to Other Websites
The Website may contain links to third-party websites, resources, or services that we do not own or control, including external mental health resources provided for your convenience.
We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party websites or services. The inclusion of a link does not imply endorsement. You acknowledge that we shall not be responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for any damage or loss caused by or in connection with your use of or reliance on any third-party website or service.
We encourage you to review the terms and privacy policies of any third-party website you visit.
"As Is" and "As Available" Disclaimer
The Website is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis, with all faults and without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.
Without limiting the foregoing, we do not warrant that:
The Website will function uninterrupted, secure, or available at any particular time or location
Any errors or defects will be corrected
The Website is free of viruses or other harmful components
The results of using the Website will meet your requirements or expectations
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Couples Counselling Toronto, its directors, employees, contractors, associates, and service providers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the Website or any Content on it.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Website or these Terms shall be limited to one hundred Canadian dollars (CAD $100).
Nothing in this section limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law, including liability arising from the professional provision of clinical services. This limitation applies to your use of the Website and its Content, not to the therapeutic services governed by the Informed Consent Agreement.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so some of the above may not apply to you.
Governing Law
These Terms of Use shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Dispute Resolution
If you have a concern or dispute about the Website, you agree to first attempt to resolve it informally by contacting us.
If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, the parties agree that any legal action or proceeding arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Website shall be brought in a court of competent jurisdiction located in Ontario, unless otherwise required by applicable law.
Concerns about clinical care are handled separately from website matters. Our therapists are Registered Social Workers (RSW) regulated by the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), which maintains a public register and a complaints process:
Website: https://www.ocswssw.org Phone: 416-972-9882 or 1-877-828-9380
If your therapist is registered with a different college, that college's complaints process applies instead. Your therapist's registration is disclosed to you at intake and listed on their profile page.
Severability and Waiver
If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, that provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary, or eliminated, so that the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect.
No waiver by us of any term or condition shall be deemed a continuing waiver, and any failure to assert a right or provision under these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.
Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms of Use at any time at our sole discretion. If changes are material, we will make reasonable efforts to post the updated Terms on this page with a revised effective date.
By continuing to access or use the Website after revised Terms become effective, you agree to be bound by the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the new Terms, you should stop using the Website.
